Wendy Orr has a string of awards and accolades, including the CBCA Book of the Year and Prime Minister’s Award for Children’s Literature, she has written over 40 books for children, teenagers and adults and been published in 29 languages.

Wendy Orr has appeared on some of the biggest conference stages and wrote the first Australian children’s book to be adapted for a Hollywood feature film – Nim’s Island, starring Jodie Foster, who was passionate about the book because it had turned her son into a reader. Nim’s Island is also regularly used internationally in One School One Book programs, as it lends itself to being enjoyed by all primary school levels and can be used to jump off STEM activities as well as literacy and comprehension.

Her Bronze Age novels, starting with Dragonfly Song, have been praised by archaeologists and historians as well as garnering awards in Australia and North America for their use of free verse and lyrical prose.

Wendy believes that every child deserves to find the books that fuel their passion for stories, encourage empathy and connection and empower them for the future. Her latest book is Honey and the Valley of Horses, a rich and enchanting adventure full of wonder, resilience and hope, is ‘an absolutely compelling and original and fast-moving fantasy.’—Youth Services Book Review ★ Starred Review
