Lesley Gibbes is an award-winning internationally published author of seventeen books for children in the genres of picture books, chapter books and poetry.  Her books include CBCA Honour Book Scary Night, CBCA Shortlisted Book Searching For Cicadas, Whitley Award Winner Fluke, A Boat Of Stars (poetry anthology), best-selling picture book Dinosaur Dads, and the hilarious chapter book series Fizz

Lesley is a presenter at the Australian Writers’ Centre where she runs the self-paced, online course, Writing Chapter Books for 6-9 year olds and has an extensive background in education with sixteen years teaching experience in the NSW Public School System. She is a dynamic, engaging presenter ideal for school author presentations, storytelling, writing workshops, festivals, professional development and parent forums. 

Lesley’s writing has received acknowledgement from The Children’s Book Council of Australia, The Royal Zoological Society of NSW, The Wilderness Society, Speech Pathology Australia, International School Libraries Network Singapore and The American Booksellers Association. Her picture book Scary Night features in the new NSW English curriculum with a unit of work for Early Stage 1.
