Sofie Laguna’s many books for young people have been published in the US, the UK and in translation throughout Europe and Asia. She has been shortlisted for the Queensland Premier’s Award, and her books have been named Honour Books and Notable Books by the Children’s Book Council of Australia. Titles include: My Yellow Blanky, Too Loud Lily (now enjoying a 21-year anniversary edition), Our Australian Girl: The Grace Stories, Bird and Sugar Boy.
After writing fiction for adults, to critical acclaim – Sofie Laguna won the Miles Franklin Award, The Colin Roderick Award and the Indie Award – Sofie has again released a number of books for children, including the novels, The Song of Lewis Carmichael, The Glow, and the picture books, The House on Pleasant Street, and A Friend for Ruby, all illustrated by her husband, Marc McBride. Sofie will release a new picture book this year illustrated by Jess Racklyeft, The Last Egg.
