Rebecca Timmis is an award-winning author-illustrator from the sunny Gold Coast. Her favourite things in the world are to write over-the-top, magical adventures and paint digital pictures with her graphics tablet.

Rebecca has illustrated two picture books, Super Nova, written by Krys Saclier and published by Ford St Publishing, and Reggie Red, written by Josie Layton and published by Larrikin House. Super Nova has since been short-listed for an Aurealis Award.

Rebecca is also the author-illustrator of the upcoming MerTales series for 6-9 year-olds. The first book in the series, The Best Friend Promise, will be published by Allen & Unwin in July 2021.

Rebeccaโ€™s writing has been shortlisted for the Text Prize and the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest. In 2019 her short sci-fi story, Sticks and Stones, won second place in the Buzzwordโ€™s Magazine Childrenโ€™s Short Story Competition, which is the largest competition for a childrenโ€™s short story in Australia.

Rebecca has a background in design, animation and web development. She loves to engage with young readers, writers and artists and plans on writing and drawing for a long, long time to come.
