Lisa Harvey-Smith is an award-winning astronomer and Professor of Practice at UNSW. In 2018 she was appointed the Australian Governmentโ€™s Ambassador for Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Lisa is the author of several books for adults and children including The Secret Life of Stars, Little Book, BIG Universe, Aliens and Other Worlds, When Galaxies Collide, Under the Stars and The Universal Guide to the Night Sky.

She was a 2021 Australia Reads Ambassador and won the Singapore Book Awards Best Education Title 2021, the Nautilus Book Awards Silver Medal 2022 and was a finalist in the Singapore Book Awards Peopleโ€™s Choice Award 2021, the Royal Society Young Peopleโ€™s Book Prize 2022 and the Next Generation Indie Book Awards 2021.

Her books have been longlisted for the Childrenโ€™s Book Council of Australiaโ€™s Eve Pownall Prize 2020 and Booktopiaโ€™s Favourite Australian Book Award 2019 and 2020.
